As I transition into the main subject, I discuss the common experience among African-Americans of not knowing our true roots. This lack of knowledge often leads many of us to explore DNA testing as a means to uncover our heritage. I share my personal journey of taking a DNA test with a company called African Ancestry, which claims to trace lineage back to specific tribes in Africa. My excitement about this process is palpable as I reflect on the significance of knowing where I come from, especially in light of my family's history.
